(The Grid Blogger) Sarah Thomas: Tampa, Florida

Sarah ThomasA big Global Site Plans welcome to our newest blogger, Sarah Thomas in Tampa, Florida.

Sarah Thomas is a graduate student studying Urban and Regional Planning at the University of South Florida. She also has a B.A. in International Studies, also from the University of South Florida. She became interested in urban issues as an undergrad, and has developed a focus on urban issues in the Tampa Bay area after serving as an intern for a light rail campaign in 2010. Her research interests include mixed-use developments, transit, comprehensive planning, and community identities. She has also taken an interest in city and county fiscal policies. Her thesis focuses on site feasibility studies for a new Tampa Bay Rays stadium for the area. As a lifelong resident of the Bay Area, Sarah hopes to help the area become one of the great urban centers in the country.

Sarah joins the October 2011 Environmental Design Internship program and will be blogging with The GRID until October 2012.

Renée van Staveren

Renée van Staveren is the Founder of Global Site Plans. She holds a M.S. in Urban and Regional Planning from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She also holds a B.S. in Sustainable Community Development from Prescott College. Prior to establishing Global Site Plans and The Grid, Renée van Staveren was an Assistant Planner for A-M-M-A Transit Planning and the Program Director for Planet Green. You can find Renée blogging about featured environmental design firms, providing free website critiques, local events in Istanbul, Turkey, plus helping you achieve industry distinction through innovative discussions. Renée currently lives in Istanbul, Turkey; adding to the list of places she has traveled and lived.
